My name is Rayan.
The name Ashawo is intentional. In Ghana, it’s a word often used to shame and police women—a label weaponized against those who are outspoken, independent, visible, or simply exist outside of society’s expectations. Reclaiming it is a political statement.

Original Ashawo challenges the language and systems that seek to define women by shame. It is about taking ownership of a word that has been used to diminish us and transforming it into one of freedom, self-expression, and power.

This brand exists at the intersection of identity, culture, and storytelling. Through photography, I invite you to experience Ghana not as a destination, but as a living, breathing home—through my eyes.
